Sensible Building Science and Professor Tamara Munzner will collaborate to solve a new and pressingproblem for facility managers. Currently, many facility decisions are based on labour intensive manual methodsfor tracking resource decisions. Facility managers responsible for services such as custodial or scheduling, needdecision-support systems that will streamline their ability to allocate resources. The combined cost of security, administrative, janitorialand utilities costs represents a substantial burden to building managers and owners. A BOMA 2016 studyrevealed that the average facility operation cost is US$8.62 psf, and within their 900 million square feet surveyfor US and Canada, this cost exceeds US$74 billion.
