The creation of new imaging devices requires a long term commitment to research and development during which new approaches are first conceived; concepts are tested with laboratory prototypes; designs are optimized and evaluated; and finally clinical and market-ready systems are built. Dr. Alla Reznik's CRC program encompasses the above stages to create a new generation of real-time fluoroscopic detectors and organ-specific Positron Emission Tomography detectors. Dr. Rezniks innovative approach to radiation medical detector development focuses on exploiting novel photoconductive materials and solid-state technologies, such as amorphous lead oxide (PbO) photoconductor and silicon photomultiplier tubes technology, to improve the capabilities and efficiencies, while reducing the dose associated with radiation medical imaging.
