1.8GPa medium-manganese hot forming steel(1.8GPa medium-manganese steel) is a newly developed lightweight ultra-high-strength steel, but insufficient toughness is a bottleneck restricting its development. Applicant’s previous research found that the adoption of rapid heating in short process(short process hot stamping) can improve the toughness of the 1.8GPa medium-manganese hot forming steel while ensuring the high strength and high elongation, with energy absorption increased by 30%. However, the microstructure evolution mechanism and toughening mechanism of this steel under this process are still unclear. Hot forming is a thermal-mechanical coupling process. The short process hot forming of 1.8GPa medium manganese steel involves the control and realization of material composition, microstructural evolution, high strength and toughness, etc. It is a typical material-structure-performance integrated forming method. This project studies the microstructure evolution behavior of 1.8GPa manganese steel under thermal-mechanical coupling, establishes the relationship between process parameters and key factors such as grain size, phase transition and precipitation behavior, and clarifies the influence mechanism on toughness of grain size, phase transition, precipitated phases and their coupling. This project reveals the coupling toughening mechanism of grain refining, phase transformation and precipitation of 1.8GPa medium manganese steel under short process hot stamping, and obtain a method of toughness control. This research solves the bottleneck problem of 1.8GPa medium manganese steel in automotive safety applications.
