This study proposes a new flexible functional form for distance functions. This generalizes the existing functional form of Diewert by allowing forα-returns to scale technology and employing the quadratic mean of orderraggregator function. Because we allow parameterαto be any strictly positive real number andrto be any non-zero real number, it includes a variety of functional forms as special cases, and all of them can now be considered as flexible functional forms.
