Nest stacking is a rarely reported phenomenon in birds. Here, we place the behav-ior within the broader context of nest functions, describe new observations of nest stacking within and between Neotropical marsh-dwelling songbirds, and discuss the ecological significance of this behavior, including its role in interspecific facilitation.
