A straightforward method is described for isolating and culturing cells from the renal cortical collecting duct. This method uses monoclonal antibodies and solid phase immunoadsorption to select for the targeted cell population. The large number of cells obtained with this method facilitates biochemical studies and initiation of cell cultures. Monolayers grown on permeable membranes can be used for studying mechanisms of ion transport and cell differentiation as well as their hormonal regulation.
