“Why are specific onomatopoeias evoked from specific images?” To tackle this question, we assumed that specific image features should be strongly related to the specific elements of quantified onomatopoeias. We then investigated the correlation between the specific image features and the specific quantified elements of user evoked onomatopoeias from such images. As a result, there was a strong correlation between the skewness of the image histogram and each attribute of the onomatopoeia vector for tactile-sensation-related onomatopoeias such as “SARA-SARA” and “ZARA-ZARA.”
