IgE is a critical factor of type I allergic diseases. We examined in this study the role of B cell receptor (BCR) signal in the class switching to IgG1 and IgE. An antigen with modified-surface structure induced distinct IgE and IgG1 production from native antigen. Our results suggest that the affinity between antigen and BCR might be involved in the determination of Ig class to switch.
