Distribution system operators are continuously looking for ways to reduce their costs despite or precisely because of the regulated revenues. However, previous approaches often neglect the overall system with its numerous interdependencies and instead only pursue local optimisation goals. In this paper, a comprehensive revenue optimisation model is presented which links several optimisation models by modelling their interdependencies to enable a coherent overall simulation of the distribution system operation. This makes it possible to simulate a variation of strategic operational strategies such as adjustments of maintenance cycles or changes to the imputed asset depreciation periods. Through a subsequent comparison of resulting economic and technical performance indicators, effects on the overall system can be observed and a sustainable global optimum can be determined
