Two methods of assessing clinically significant response were applied to data from 49 chronic and severe agoraphobic patients. Based on the Jacobson, Follette and Revenstorf (1984) criterion, 76% had ‘clinically significant change’ while only 49% met high endstate functioning criteria reporting mild to minimal symptomatology at posttreatment. Outcome research should utilize both methods since they address different though complimentary aspects of clinical significance.
