Hydrophilic control of laser micro-square-convexes SiC surfaces

The wettability of laser micro-square-convexes SiC surfaces was investigated so as to control the hydrophilicity on SiC surface. Both chemical component and surface morphology were discussed in controlling the surface contact angle. Chemical composition of textured surfaces was analyzed by Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX), and micro-square texture surface was fabricated by fiber optic laser marker. The results show that Si content plays an important role in controlling wettability of seal material SiC surface, meanwhile laser processing effectively enhances the wetting property of SiC surfaces further. A hydrophilic SiC surface with contact angle of 39.3° was obtained.
