Process Modeling for Wear and Breakage Detection in Metal Cutting

本研究的目的是通过监测切削力来检测刀具的磨损和破损，即使在加工过程中，当切削变量(速度、进给量、切深)发生变化以及工件硬度发生变化时，也能检测刀具的磨损和破损。加工过程的数学模型将被开发并存储在机床的控制计算机中，该模型将对切削力的磨损和破损影响与其他参数的影响分开，从而实现对刀具磨损和破损的在线检测。随着加工的进行，模型将在线更新。

This research is aimed at detecting wear and breakage of cutting tools through the monitoring of cutting forces, even when the cutting variables (speed, feed, depth-of-cut) vary and the workpiece hardness changes during machining. A mathematical model of the machining process will be developed and stored in the control computer of the machine tool which will separate the wear and gbreakage effect on cutting forces from those of the other parameters, thus enabling the on-line detection of tool wear and breakage. The model will updated online as the machining progresses.
