The purpose of the research is to investigate the relationship between surface roughness and wear of a magnetic medium in contact with a recording head, in a magnetic recording device. The funds will be used towards the purchase of a stylus profilometer for surface roughness evaluation. The equipment is necessary to complete the objectives of the research program.
