Third Meeting of the U.S.-Japan Joint Technical CoordinatingCommittee on Masonry Research

美日砖石建筑研究协调项目是在风力和地震对UJNR影响研究小组主持下开展的一系列联合结构研究项目中的第三个项目。美国的研究始于1985年秋中期，目前进展顺利。日本的研究大约在18个月前就开始了，而且也进行得很好。联席会议每年在两国之间轮流举行，目的是交换有利于两国的思想和信息。该项目将支持9名美国研究人员出席下次在日本举行的会议。此外，美国代表团将有机会目睹日本的砖石建筑、砖石单元制造和一座五层砖石建筑的全尺寸测试。

The U.S.-Japan Coordinated Program from Masonry Building Research is the third in a series of joint structural research projects done under the auspices of the Panel on Wind and Seismic Effects on UJNR. Research in the U.S. began in the mid-fall of 1985 and is progressing well. The Japanese research began approximately 18 months earlier and is also in good order. Joint meetings are held every year, alternating between countries, for the purpose of exchanging ideas and information to the benefit of both countries. This project would support attendance of nine U.S. researchers at the next meeting in Japan. In addition, there will be opportunities for the U.S. delegation to witness Japanese masonry construction, masonry unit manufacture and the set-up of the full-scale test of a five-story masonry building.
