International Travel Grant to attend Italian Seminars on Reinforced Masonry Structures in Rome, Italy on October 7-12, 1991

This is an International Travel Grant to support the Principal Investigator's travel to and participation at two meetings in Western Europe: 1. "Italian Seminars on Reinforced Masonry Structures", Naples, Ancona, Udine, and Vicenza, Italy, October 7-12, 1991, CONZORSIO POROTON ITALIA. 2. "Ninth International Brick/Block Conference", Berlin, Germany, October 13-18, 1991, Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Maumauerwerksbau (DGfM), German Masonry Association in Bonn. Participation of the two meetings will enable the Principal Investigator to: 1. Present two invited papers, "An Overview of Reinforced Masonry in the United States" and "An Overview of Masonry Structural Research in the United States", at the Italian series of seminars, and 2. Represent the U.S. at the International Conference in Berlin, Germany, and present two papers entitled: "The U.S. TCCMAR Coordinated Masonry Research Program" and "Masonry Limit State Design Philosophy". At both meetings, the Principal Investigator will be presenting specific results developed within the NSF sponsored and coordinated "TCCMAR Masonry Research Program". This effort will also provide the opportunity to further develop research cooperation between the U.S., Italy, and Germany in areas of advanced technologies involving masonry construction and seismic design.
