U.S.-China Cooperative Science Research: High Energy Heavy Ion Research

这是华盛顿大学杰弗里·威尔克斯博士和汤普森·伯内特博士与中科院高能物理研究所郑朴英教授为期两年的合作研究项目，目的是利用最高的束能和质量来研究重离子。乳胶技术在基本粒子物理研究中具有重要意义。它允许人们探索基本粒子碰撞的一些方面，而这些方面是不容易用其他技术研究的。在重离子乳剂实验方面，美国的P.I.S是美国最好的之一。乳化液技术是由中国的合作科学家共同开发的。这种合作可以提供有用的重离子数据。

This is a two.year collaborative research project between Drs. Jeffrey Wilkes, Jere Lord, and Thompson Burnett University of Washington and Professor Zheng Puying Institute of High Energy Physics, Academia Sinica, to study heavy ion using the highest beam emergies and masses. The emulsion technique is important in the study of elementary particle physics. It allows one to probe aspects of elementary particle collision not easily studied using other techniques. The U.S. P.I.s are among the best in this country in heavy ion emulsion >experiments. Emulsion technique is well developed by the collaborative scientists in China. This collaboration can provide useful data in heavy ion.
