RUI: NMR Studies of Cyanobacterial Nitrogen Metabolism

在正常生长条件下以及在氮素限制或补充的条件下，将研究与独特的氮素储存聚合物--蓝藻素有关的氮代谢动态，以研究不是双氮“固定”的蓝藻。使用N-15和P-31的核磁共振波谱将成为研究体内氮代谢和监测细胞从一种环境状态转换到另一种环境状态过程中代谢状态的主要分析工具。预计这些研究将有助于更好地了解这组对环境有重要意义的原核生物的基因调控，特别是代谢控制和环境条件的相互作用。

Cyanobacteria that are not di-nitrogen "fixing" will be studied in terms of the dynamics of nitrogen metabolism as related to the unique nitrogen storage polymer, cyanophycin, during normal growth conditions as well as in conditions where nitrogen limitation or repletion exist. NMR spectroscopy using N-15 and P-31 will be a principal analytical tool to study N metabolism in vivo and to monitor the metabolic state of cells during shifts from one environmental state to another. The studies are expected to lead to a better understanding of gene regulation in this group of environmentally significant procaryotes particularly in terms of the interactions of metabolic controls and environmental conditions.//
