This award to the National Academy of Sciences is for support of the activities of the Geotechnical Board during the one year period August 1, 1991, to July 31, 1992. The Geotechnical Board exists within the National Research Council and its Commission on Engineering and Technical Systems. The toatal budget is $400,000 out of which NSF will provide $25,000. Funds are requested from 12 agencies in amounts ranging from $10,000 to $50,000.
