This award to the National Academy of Sciences is for support of the activities of the Geotechnical Board during the one year period October 1, 1992 through September 30, 1993. The Geotechnical Board exists within the National Research Council and its Commission on Engineering and Technical Systems. The total budget is $415,000, out of which NSF will provide $25,000. Funds are requested from 11 agencies in amounts ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.//
