Conference: 1991 International Conference on Education in Optics to be held in Leningrad, USSR, on Sept. 28 - Oct 1, 1991.

光电仪器工程师学会（SPIE）、美国光学学会（OSA）和国际光学委员会（ICO）将与列宁格勒精密机械与光学研究所（LIFMO）合作，1991年9月28日至10月1日，苏联列宁格勒国际光学教育会议，D.S. Rozhdestvensky。这次会议的目的是将来自世界各地的光学教育工作者聚集在苏联，分享现代光学的教育和培训方法。会议打算建立一个持续的论坛，以分享国际和跨文化的教学机制和哲学。该项目从1990年11月开始提出，为期16个月，从组织和公众宣传到1992年2月结束，大约在会议结束后5个月出版和分发会议论文集。技术项目由国际大学光学项目的学术代表组织，并由备受尊敬的光学教育家邀请19场讲座组成。目前正在征求贡献的论文来补充邀请的程序。由大学光学项目提供的IBM和麦金塔兼容软件和显示器的展览将补充技术议程。这次会议的目的是进一步服务于SPIE， OSA和ICO所致力于的光学社区。最近世界政治的变化为各方提供了一个独特的机会来交换信息，教授和学习，并进一步推动这一科学分支的事业，以造福所有国家。

The Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), together with the Optical Society of America (OSA), and the International Commission for Optics (ICO) will present, in cooperation with the Leningrad Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics (LIFMO), and the D.S. Rozhdestvensky All-Union Optical Society of the USSR, the 1991 International Conference on Education in Optics in Leningrad, USSR, 28 September - 1 October 1991. The purpose of this conference is to bring optics educators from around the world together in the Soviet Union to share education and training methods in modern optics. The conference intends to establish an on-going forum for the sharing of international and inter-cultural teaching and learning mechanics and philosophies. The project is proposed over a 16-month period beginning November 1990 with its organization and public promotion to its end in February 1992 at the publication and distribution of the conference Proceedings approximately 5 months after the conference. The technical program is organized by academic representatives of international university optics programs and is structured around 19 invited talks by highly respected optics educators. Contributed papers are presently being solicited to supplement the invited program. An exhibit of IBM- and Macintosh-compatible software and displays by university optics programs will complement the technical agenda. The intent of this conference is to further serve the optics community to which SPIE, the OSA, and the ICO are dedicated. The recent changes in world politics present a unique opportunity on all sides to exchange information, to teach and learn, and to further the cause of this branch of science to the benefit of all nations.
