Workshop on Scientific Uses of CDSN Data

这笔经费用于资助三名美国大学科学家1991年5月到中国北京参加“中国数字地震台网数据科学应用研讨会”。CDSN为世界上过去缺乏重要地震仪覆盖的部分地区提供了宝贵的新数据集。这些数据对地球结构的一般研究和美国和中国科学家进行的地震危害研究都很有用。会议是根据美国/中华人民共和国地震研究议定书组织的。中国国家地震局、美国地质调查局和美国国家科学基金会是该议定书的成员。这次旅行和研讨会对美国在中国计划或正在进行的地震灾害研究项目的成功进行非常重要。这项研究是国家减少地震危害计划的一个组成部分。

This grant supports outside-China travel for three U.S. university scientists to attend the Workshop on Scientific Uses of China Digital Seismographic Network Data in Beijing, PRC, in May, 1991. The CDSN has provided an invaluable new data set for a part of the world that has lacked significant seismographic coverage in the past. The data is useful for general studies of the earth's structure and for earthquake hazard research conducted by both U.S. and PRC scientists. The meeting is organized under the US/PRC Earthquake Studies Protocol. China's State Seismological Bureau, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the National Science Foundation are the members of the Protocol. This travel and symposium is important to the successful conduct of U.S. projects of earthquake hazards research planned or underway in the PRC. This research is a component of the National Earthquake Hazard Reduction Program.
