An assessment of the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in Engineering is the goal of this workshop. The objectives of the workshop are to evaluate the REU program in terms of program content, schedules, management and overall success in achieving the stated goals for the program as well as provide recommendations for strengthening undergraduate involvement in research. The participants in the Workshop include the current REU Engineering Site Directors, the Education Coordinators form the 19 Engineering Research Centers, and some leaders in undergraduate education.
