Modeling Langrangian Displacement of Watermasses in the DeepEquatorial Ocean

本项目是利用解析和数值方法研究赤道大西洋深处水团的拉格朗日位移。采用了两种数值模式：减少重力浅水模式和GDFL海洋环流模式。主要的科学目标是：(1)确定波浪瞬态产生的主要机制以及这些瞬态如何影响水体的拉格朗日位移；(2)分析底部地形和海岸线几何对拉格朗日赤道输运的影响。

This project is an investigation of the Lagrangian displacement of water masses in the deep equatorial Atlantic Ocean using both analytical and numerical approaches. Two numerical models are used: a reduced gravity shallow water model, and the GDFL ocean general circulation model. The main scientific goals are (1) identification of dominant mechanisms for generating wave transients and how can these transients affect Lagrangian displacement of water masses and, (2) analysis of effects of bottom topography and shoreline geometry on the Lagrangian equatorial transport.
