9353844 Hamlet Pittsburg State University seeks to initiate a 3-week, summer residential, Young Scholars program with follow-up activities during the academic year in biology and chemistry. The program will consist of 36 students entering grades 8 and 9. Students will engage in classroom lectures and discussions, career counseling, field trips, research with a university professor, and hands-on laboratory activities. Follow-up activities will involve a hometown scientist serving as a mentor to assist the student in research activities.
