STARS: Student Training Academy for Research in Science

*** 9552896 Hamlet Pittsburg State University will initiate a 3-week, summer residential, Young Scholars project in biology and chemistry for 36 students entering grades 8 and 9. The students will participate in classroom lectures and discussions, career counselling, field trips, research under the leadership of university scientists, and laboratory activities where they will learn the basic methods of ethical scientific research while anallizing their own data. Fololow-up activities involve a hometown scientist serving as a mentor to assist the student in research activities. ***
