Dynamic Distributed Systems

本项目的目标是为动态分布式系统开发一种分层设计方法，并研究其在几个应用领域的适用性。一个这样的应用是设计优雅的可降解系统，在出现故障时保证可接受的良好性能。另一个将被研究的应用集中在动态图形和计算几何的分布式算法的设计上。该项目将演示分层设计如何帮助在存在故障、重新配置的情况下合成可证明正确的系统，以及如何在适当的层上重用现有算法。

The objective of this project is to develop a hierarchical design methodology for dynamic distributed systems, and investigate its applicability to several application areas. One such application is the design of gracefully degradable systems that guarantee acceptably good performance in the presence of failures. Another application that will be investigated focuses on the design of distributed algorithms for dynamic graphs and computational geometry. The project will demonstrate how the hierarchical design helps synthesizing provably correct systems in the presence of failures, reconfigurations and how existing algorithms can be reused at appropriate layers.
