9413044 Zimmerman This award funds 56Kbps connections for nine small higher education institutions to the Internet through ARKnet, the Arkansas state higher education network, and installs six dial-in sites throughout Arkansas to assist in rural outreach. The nine schools: Arkansas State University Beebe Arkansas State University Newport Central Baptist College Conway Cossatot Technical College De Queen Mississippi County Community College Blytheville Petit Jean Technical College Morrilton Rich Mountain Community College Mena Southern Arkansas University Tech Camden Williams Baptist College Walnut Ridge Faculty and students at the institutions benefit from access to the resources of the Internet, including libraries and supercomputers. In addition, they are able to communicate and collaborate with colleagues at other campuses in pursuit of research and educational projects. The award provides partial support of the project for two years.
