Description: This project supports a short visit by Dr. Robert Stern, Center for Lithospheric Studies, University of Texas at Dallas, to Pakistan, to plan a research collaboration with Dr. M. Asif Khan, National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar, Pakistan. The two scientists will travel along the Karakorum Highway, for a preliminary study of the Kohistan terrane, a fossil island arc trapped in the Himalayas of Pakistan. They will plan a detailed proposal to study this region in a joint US-Pakistan effort involving the two institutions. This project meets INT objectives of support of planning visits for viable research projects.
