The main aim of this IP is to investigate three endangered sign languages used in three very interesting rural contexts: 1. Yolngu Sign Language, (henceforth YSL), an Australian Aboriginal sign language in Arnhem Land in the North of Australia, 2. Kata Kolok, (henceforth KK), a village sign language in the North of Bali, Indonesia, and 3. County Sign, (henceforth CS), a rural sign language in Jamaica. These three sign languages are genetically not related, and as such, provide a fascinating opportunity for crosslinguistic typological study.
