This is a proposal by University of Alaska Professor Dr. Sharman Haley is to fund a workshop on "Effective Local Institutions for Collective Action in Arctic Communities" in conjunction with the Public Administration Theory Network Conference in Anchorage Alaska, June 19-21, 2003. The goal of the workshop is to develop new collaborations between theory and practical experience, comparative perspectives and local knowledge, as well as between scientists, agency practitioners and community stakeholders in examining socioeconomic development in rural Alaska and Canada.
