The new projected fundamental physics experiments at modern cold and ultracold neutron(UCN) sources are based on a thousand-fold higher instantaneous neutron flux, which isessential to reach the prospected high precision. Experiments like the neutron lifetimeexperiment and the search for a neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) with more thanprojected 108 UCN stored require the counting of UCN released from the traps within a fewseconds only. Up today no detector for such high-count rates is available. The modularCASCADE detector system is designed for such high intensity neutron applications with highdemands on the dynamical range, contrast as well as background. The system is based on aconceptually innovative detector setup, which has proven its high rate capability also in otherfields as the high-energy physics. It is only limited by the bandwidth of readout electronicsavailable up today. Goal of this applied research project is the development of a beam monitor detector adaptedto the planned PERC instrument and a position sensitive detector adapted to the experiments with ultracold neutrons based on a new data acquisition system, which is morethan 10 times faster to be able to process detection rates up to 100 MHz.
