This project, building a sensor experimentation platform consisting of test and development stations, aims at designing custom sensor boards and a test-bed comprising a set of robots and off-the-shelf sensor networking components (sensors, processor boards, interface boards and servers). The fully developed platform enables the creation of a common sensor technology experimentation and information resource. The work enhances research objectives of the following projects:-Assessment of agent-based team organizational models on scenarios involving multiple teams of sensor components in the presence of failures,-Design of custom sensor boards to suit the requirement of Veterinary Telemedicine and Human Health Monitoring projects,-Evaluation of the tools for model-driven design and optimization of sensor network software in a large-scale heterogeneous environment, and-Evaluation of techniques to design energy efficient sensor networks using sensor boards integrated with custom designed wireless modules.The platform will also contribute to integrate software systems research by collaborating in the evaluation of sensor technologies.Broader Impact: Several projects (RET site, EXCITE, Grow Programs, Robot Road Show, and Undergraduate Minor and Graduate Certificate in Embedded Systems) engage K-12, undergraduate, and graduate students in embedded sensor design, sensor systems, and robotics. The platform will impact and integrate these programs, providing a much richer experience to students.
