Three main components of the evaluation activity are: evaluating how TG impacts the science it is intended to support; understand how distributed groups provide software in response to user needs; and improve methods used to study and evaluate Cyberinfrastructure (CI) projects and associated work. The work is divided into a formative evaluation and a summative evaluation. He formative work focuses on progress by TG in meeting user requirements, the usability of the tools and services, user satisfaction, and the impact of the education, outreach and training efforts. A variety of methods and approaches will be used, ranging from user surveys and interviews to science impact analysis and software testing.
