OECD Workshop: The Future of the Internet

This workshop will bring together policy makers, leading academics, private sector organizations, and civil society representatives to discuss the future of the Internet and to explore the various approaches that are being taken to create new functionality in the Internet. This includes technical, regulatory, and economic approaches. The workshop will also identify opportunities for international cooperation. One of the objectives is to present the issues behind the Global Environment for Network Investigations (GENI) initiative in an international forum and contrast with similar efforts in Canada and China. The approach of a forum for constructive dialogue for the design and implementation of policies that will sustain growth in knowledge-based economies has been a effective mechanism for evidence-based analysis. The meeting will also help identify and prioritize key areas of focus for work on Internet-related policy issues. Published reports and web-accessible materials will be produced.
