Numerical Modeling of Earthquake Source Dynamics Workshop; Smolenice Castle, Slovakia; September 2-6, 2007

The purpose of the workshop is to bring together the various researchers from theUnited States, Asia and Europe who use numerical simulations to investigate dynamics of earthquake ruptures. The three days of talks and discussion will cover a full range of topics related to earthquake dynamics: stress distributions on the fault, rupture history including nucleation and arrest, constitutive laws for friction, role of heterogeneity, energy budget and seismic radiation, numerical techniques, and simulations of dynamics for past earthquakes.The workshop will take place September 2-6, 2007 in the Slovak Republic. Many early-career researchers will be supported for their attendance by this grant.
