项目摘要
Earthquakes are one of the main threats to the structural integrity of civil infrastructure. Although significant progress has been made in earthquake engineering, many challenges remain. The proposed Chair aims at developing cutting-edge tools and methodologies for theoretical/numerical modeling and experimental simulation in earthquake engineering. The long-term objectives of the CRC are to provide engineers, researchers, planners and decision makers with: (i) new experimentally-validated simulations for effective and efficient assessment of the seismic structural safety and performance of critical civil infrastructure, and (ii) innovative design strategies and rehabilitation techniques to mitigate seismic effects on new or existing civil infrastructure.
