The research project centers around producing mesoscopic few electron devices inorder to experimentally test coherent control and shuttling of few electron spin qubits.The spin and position information will be determined using quantum point contactlistening devices situated adjacent to the quantum dots. High frequency pulses will beused in order to control and transfer electrons among the different locations.The overall importance of the proposed research project is to extend our understandingof the limiting factors that determine spin coherence lifetime of stationary and flying fewelectron spin qubits. In the solid state, complicated interactions among electrons andbetween the electrons and their host material result in decoherence. In GaAs, spindecoherence is caused by the hyperfine interactionsbetween the electron and the host nuclei. Here we shall use the higher degree ofsymmetry offered by few electron qubits in order to overcome such sources ofdecoherence.
