Professor Mark Wrighton of Washington University in St. Louis will organize a workshop entitled "Enhancing Innovation and Competitiveness Through Investments in Fundamental Research" to provide industrial perspective on the science and education drivers critical to innovation and competitiveness of science- and technology-based industries. A diverse group of about 30 academic and industrial leaders will be asked to consider opportunities for Federally-supported research and programs suitable for execution in academic and government settings, and/or for collaborations among academic, government, and industrial researchers. The workshop report will be widely disseminated.
