An international workshop is funded to integrate past research and currently planned MARGINS investigations as well as future drilling efforts for the Izu-Bonin-Marianas arc (IBM), which is one of the MARGINS focus sites for the Subduction Factory initiative. The workshop will synthesize current studies and will explore possibilities for more effective integration of various on-going scientific programs in the region and help to define the most productive research strategies for the future. By convening informed investigators who have either participated in aspects of IBM research or who have expertise in relevant fields, this workshop should provide perspectives and focus that will optimize future research in the region.
