A planning meeting will be held to determine if the University of Texas at Dallas will become a research site of the existing multi-university Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Embedded Systems. The new research site would undertake and promote research and development of service-oriented, network-centric systems. The addition of another research site will extend the capabilities of the I/UCRC and enhance the participating universities' ability to open doors to other industrial sponsors. The immediate impact of the research site will be on the research needed for next generation software and systems for mission critical applications. By joining the current participating academic institutions and companies, the site will greatly enhance the research capabilities and revolutionize our national research competence
