The analysis of protestant churches in the USA (United Church of Christ), in France (Église Réformée de France) and in the Netherlands (Protestandse Kerk in Nederland) shows that fundraising is the most important way to acquire money for churches. As an umbrella organization, the EKD wants to motivate German church congregations to acquire 20 % of their annual revenues by fundraising to compensate the reduction of revenues from church tax by the year 2030.
