Modeling and theoretical description of magnetic hybrid materials - bridging from meso- to macro-scales

We investigate the static and dynamic response of magnetic hybrid materials to external magnetic and mechanical fields. For this purpose, explicit mesoscopic theoretical approaches and statistical many-body theories are developed and applied. Our theoretical descriptions of the magnetic and elastic interactions between the magnetic colloidal particles embedded in an elastic matrix are supplemented by numerical calculations and simulations. As a central aspect, we wish to understand how collective interactions between the magnetic colloidal particles influence the macroscopic material properties. In this way, the mesoscopic particle level is connected to the macroscopic length scales.
