The project investigates personnel decisions regarding military leadership roles in the sixth century with a particular focus on individuals who have failed. The project will attempt a reconstruction of the concrete consequences of failure (such as transfers or removals from office) and is particularly interested in discovering how and by what procedures such individuals were replaced.
