The sub-project analyses continuities and transformations of international trusteeship from a historicizing perspective. It asks how practices and discourses of security dynamics have led to the establishment of trusteeship administrations as a specific repertoire of international governance. Empirically, the project examines processes of (de)securitisation in the conflictive negotiations on trusteeship from the period of foundation of the United Nations (UN) up to UN administrations of the 1990s.
