The project examines international reception processes in the poetics of German Expressionists. It evaluates for the first time in a systematical way the corpus of translated authors and their intermedial relevance for expressionist literature, arts and silent film. In contrast to previous research methods it will focus not only upon the dialogue of German Expressionists with Italian Futurism, but also on their wide reception of pre-avant-garde authors. The analyse of these interferences should redefine the historical place of German Expressionism between classical modernity and avant-garde.
