Over the course of the project, new cooperation partners were won, a large number of experiments were carried out and spectacular results were achieved. The significant number of publications and invited lectures is evidence of the successful research work of the Emmy Noether Junior Research Group in the first 4 1/2 years. However, not all important results have been published so far, as interpretation and theoretical description have proved to be extremely complex. Also, the pronounced reactivity and air sensitivity of the samples posed great challenges for us and our project partners, which were largely mastered, but led to a certain delay. Furthermore, the results obtained have motivated further investigations, which are not yet fully completed. Two projects carried out at major research institutions are to be cited as examples: Experiments using inelastic neutron scattering were carried out at J-PARC (Tokai, Japan) and a second series of measurements is planned for April 2020. Resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) to elucidate the electronic structure was performed at the Diamond Light Source (Oxfordshire, UK) and further experiments with synchrotron radiation are planned. It is not possible to complete this work by June 2020, the originally planned end of the funding period. The primary aim is to publish the results obtained in respected scientific journals and to subsequently present and communicate the results obtained. Work in progress is to be completed and also published adequately. Experimental work carried out in Augsburg will be limited to electrical transport measurements and microstructuring of the model system 'Lithium Nitride doped with Iron' using a Focused Ion Beam (FIB). For the former, an apparatus based on spring contact probes has recently been completed, which allows the installation of air-sensitive samples under inert gas. A FIB facility is available at the Chair of Experimental Physics VI.
