英文摘要
The ongoing Minor Manuscript Collections project is part of a long-term effort by the Leipzig manuscript centre to explore and catalogue minor medieval and early modern manuscript holdings beyond major academic collections. These isolated manuscript holdings are of particular interest for scholarship, since their existence is often scarcely known to researchers and their contents have not yet been catalogued. Therefore, their systematic cataloguing unearths considerable amounts of hitherto unknown source material for medieval studies and makes these manuscripts accessible to scholars, often for the first time ever. The project brings together eleven institutions that own medieval manuscripts, and seeks to catalogue their holdings according to the DFG guidelines for manuscript cataloguing. The participating institutions are: (1) Cathedral Library of St Peter in Bautzen (2) Protestant preacher community Erfurt (3) Andreas Möller Library, Geschwister Scholl Gymnasium Freiberg (4) German Museum of Books and Writing, German National Library in Leipzig (5) National Archive of Saxony in Leipzig (6) Cistercian Abbey St Marienthal (7) Meißen Municipal archive (8) Cultural-historical Museum, Castle Merseburg (9) Mühlhausen Municipal archive (10) Stralsund Municipal archive (11) Zeitz Cathedral Library. During the six years of its proposed duration, the project intends to catalogue 245 shelf mark items. During the first phase of the project, the UBL has made a start on digitizing the manuscript holdings involved in the project. Actually, the UBL together with other project partner will re-new this commitment and continue carry out further digitization work. During the project, researchers will have continuous access to the project results as they appear. All relevant catalogue data will be made available through the German online manuscript catalogue Manuscripta Mediaevalia and later the new manuscript portal, while all references for watermarks produced during the project work will be published through the Watermark Database (WZIS). As conclusion to the project, the participating institutions plan to publish a catalogue containing all project results, additional information, as well as an introduction to the histories of the collections and indices. The project is currently in its 2nd phase and, after processing a large part of the manuscripts, has already led to numerous new findings and conclusions. The additional continuation proposal presented here serves to successfully complete the project by compensating for additional financial and time expenditures resulting from especially Corona delays and new manuscript discoveries.
