Cataloguing of eleven restored medieval manuscripts from the Bonn University and State library

The Bonn University and State library (ULB Bonn) holds a collection of medieval manuscripts. Medium-sized as far as mere numbers are concerned, this collection is of high-quality in terms of its content and is sought after by researchers of medieval manuscripts. Of the original 210 codices 33 were missing since the end of the Second World War. As a result of a DFG-funded project, which was completed in 2013, DFG-guidelines-compliant descriptions of the 178 existing manuscripts were created. Moreover the 33 missing codices were described on the basis of the library’s research documentation. The project results were published both via Manuscripta Mediaevalia and in a printed catalogue published in 2015. By means of this catalogue, it was possible to identify eleven of the 33 medieval manuscripts missing in Bonn in the antiquarian market and to accomplish their return to the ULB in 2018.The aim of the current project is the creation and publication of in-depth-descriptions of these eleven restored medieval manuscripts. These descriptions will be published via Manuscripta Mediaevalia (or, in perspective, the Handschriftenportal/manuscript portal). There the descriptions shall be referenced to the images of the manuscripts that have already been digitized. Descriptions will be carried out on the basis of existing records in Manuscripta Mediaevalia according to the Guidelines for Manuscript Cataloguing of the DFG. Finally a printed supplementary catalogue will be created, that will probably come as an extensive article in a journal.
这些描述将通过Manuscripta Mediaevalia(或者相应地,Handschriftenportal/manuscript portal)发布。
