项目摘要

本研究では、（１）『ヴァールシュネーヤ・アディヤートマ』研究、（２）最初期のアディヤートマ思想研究、（３）アディヤートマ思想の思想的意義、という三つの研究課題を設定した。令和3年度は、特に研究課題（１）に注力し、研究課題（２）と（３）については研究見通しを明確にすることができた。（１）令和3年度内で、手元にあるネパール古写本の校合作業および英訳の草稿が終了した。さらに、校合・英訳の過程で浮上した問題点について以下の論文投稿ならびに学会発表を行った。投稿論文 "On the Narrative.." では、従来使われている批判校訂版において提示されている会話構造が、報告者が校合したネパール写本を含む重要な写本群によって支持されていないことを指摘し、さらにそれに基づいてテキストの改訂を提案した。学会発表 "Evolutio of rajas..." では、『ヴァールシュネーヤ・アディヤートマ』において、ラジャスは男性の性欲などの欲求を指し、さらにそのラジャスがその子に受け継がれることで、胎児には諸感覚対象に対する欲求が欲し、それによってさまざまな感覚機能が生じる、とされることを明らかにした。（２）学会発表「『マイトラーヤニーヤ』・・・」では、アディヤートマ思想の先駆的存在である『マイトラーヤニーヤ・ウパニシャッド』について、先行研究の見解の問題点を整理した。投稿論文 "The Mental (Manasa)..." では、アディヤートマ文献群と思想的に近い『ブリグとバラドヴァージャの対話』における「マーナサ」（マナスの、心の）と呼ばれる神格の解釈の問題点を扱った。（３）『マハーバーラタ』や後代のプラーナ文献、シヴァ教文献におけるアディヤートマという語の用例を収集し、アディヤートマ思想がどのような文献においてどのように言及されているのか、予備的調査を行った。
