本研究は、カントが晩年の『道徳の形而上学』で展開した徳論を「義務論的徳倫理学」と見定め、それが有する特徴と独自性を解明することを目的とするものである。２０２２年度は、前年度に日本カント協会のシンポジウムで発表した内容を改定・増補した論文「カントの『道徳の形而上学』における徳理論の構造」を発表した。本論文は、従来の研究では必ずしも明確にされてこなかったカントの徳理論の構造を三つの要素から成るものとして明らかにした。その三つの要素とは、①意志の道徳的強さとしての徳、②道徳的目的に関わる徳の義務、③熟慮の徳である。本論文を通じて、カントの徳理論が「義務」をベースにしながらこれら三要素の相互関係によって規定されていることが、アリストテレス流の現代徳倫理学と区別される点であることが示された。また本年度は、カントの徳論を彼に影響を与えた可能性のある同時代の徳論との対決という観点からいくつかのテクストを調査した。主に検討したのは、トマジウスの『道徳論入門』、またヴォルフ学派では、バウムガルテンの『第一実践哲学の原理』と『哲学的倫理学』、マイアーの『一般実践哲学』と『哲学的道徳論』であったが、とくにマイアーの『哲学的道徳論』がカントの徳論との関係でいくつか興味深い対比を示していることが分かった。それと並行して、カントの『道徳の形而上学』の第二部「徳論」の同時代における受容について当時の著作や雑誌を中心に調査した。その結果、第一部の「法論」に比して、「徳論」に関する反応は少なかったが、そのなかでシュヴァープによる批評がカントとヴォルフの徳論を比較したものになっており、本研究にとって重要な資料になることが判明した。
